Christmas at Helsinki City Museum
Helsinki City Museum’s Christmas season will kick off on 18–19 November. Come and enjoy the Holiday Market, children’s disco, and sing-alongs! At the Burgher’s House, you can experience the Christmas cheer of eras past, all the way up to Epiphany.
The City Museum’s Holiday Market will be offering inspiring ideas for presents on Saturday and Sunday 18–19 November from 11:00 to 18:00. The market features many local producers. Amid the holiday shopping, visitors can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, music, and the delicacies of café El Fant.
The traditional Christmas event for the whole family, Children’s Christmas, will fill the museum with a warm atmosphere on Saturday 2 December from 12:00 to 15:00. Participants can look forward to meeting an old-timey Father Christmas, dancing at the Christmas disco and enjoying fun puppet theatre performances. In Grandma’s House in Children’s Town, you can also help grandma with Christmas preparations, and the event features workshops where participants will make cards for Christmas presents and cardboard gingerbread characters.
Music is also an integral part of the City Museum’s Christmas season. On Thursday 7 December from 13:30 to 14:30, the atmospheric 1930s primary school classroom in Children’s Town will be filled with Christmas school songs. Leading the songs and bringing the Christmas cheer will be musicians Sofia Finnilä and Veera Railio.
