Sámi National Day is honoured on 6 February with Sámi people living in the regions of four different states coming together to celebrate their shared national day. In 2004, the Sámi National Day was added to the Finnish calendar as an official flag day.
There are about 10,000 Sámi living in Finland. They belong to three different groups: the North Sámi, Inari Sámi and Skolt Sámi. These three groups each have their own language and culture.
