Lecture on the major bombings of Helsinki in 1944
Tapahtuma
-
Aleksanterinkatu 16
On 6 February 1944, the people of Helsinki were going about their business on a wintry Sunday evening when the city’s sirens began to sound at 18:52, signalling an air raid. What exactly happened in Helsinki during the three major bombings in February of 1944?
Historian Ville Jalovaara, Docent, will lecture about the struggle for survival in Helsinki 80 years ago, which he has discussed in his research, Helsinki 1944 – Taistelu pääkaupungista (SKS), published last autumn.
The lecture will be held in Finnish, and admission is free.
