Night of the Arts: Total rubbish on a film
On the Night of the Arts, the City Museum will screen fascinating short films, documentaries and advertisements with an old-time film projector. Our exhibitions will be open until 23:00. Free entry!
Inspired by the Trash! – What we leave behind exhibition, the theme of the City Museum’s Night of the Arts is waste and recycling. In the early evening, visitors can learn about the cycle of waste through some recent short documentaries screened in the museum lobby. As the evening grows darker, a lovely outdoor cinema will open in the museum courtyard, screening Helsinki and trash-themed short films, documentaries and advertisements with an old-time analogue 35 mm film projector. The event is also a premiere for the work Täyttä roskaa (Total rubbish), a piece made for this event from old deleted and edited cuts of films. The audience will also have the chance to see the projector room!
Helsingin Studiopalvelut will handle the technical implementation. The City Museum has been collaborating with them since 2018.
Programme:
19:00–21:00 short documentaries with the theme Trash! (at the museum lobby)
19:00–22:30 Tour of the projector room (Falkman studio)
21:00–22:30 Night of the Arts Film Garden (Falkman courtyard)
During the Night of the Arts, the Museum exhibitions will be open until 23:00. Please note that the Children’s Town will close at 19:00 as usual. We hope to see you there!
