Falkman’s studio, the secret treasure of the museum

Events
Sun 12.6.2022
12:00-15:00
Aleksanterinkatu 16

Very few people know the oldest remaining artist’s studio deep within the City Museum, which the Swedish-born artist Severin Falkman (1831–1889) built for himself in 1872. The atmospheric studio offers a unique glimpse into the life of the painter of historical and genre paintings, who was scorned in his lifetime. The opening of the studio to the public was made possible by City Museum volunteers who serve as discussion guides in the studio.
