Aavistus Festival 2024
The third edition of Aavistus Festival will be held in Helsinki from October 3–6. The event will also extend to the City Museum, where you can experience audiovisual installations, participate in workshops, and attend fascinating panel discussions. All events are free of charge.
Aavistus Festival is a biennial of audiovisual art and VJ culture. Organized for the third time by Aavistus Festival Association, the event presents an impressive program of performances, workshops, exhibitions, and discussions.
From Thursday to Sunday, the City Museum will feature immersive media art and interactive installations that explore the festival’s theme, “At the Interface,” from various perspectives, such as the relationship between humans and the environment, the diversity of cultures and languages, and the ecological and societal challenges facing humanity.
The Children’s Town exhibition will showcase immersive, inspiring, and colorful media artworks suitable for the whole family. On Saturday, the City Museum will remain open until midnight, and artist projections will illuminate the museum’s entrance.

Born during the golden age of home computers, this hobbyist culture has remained vibrant to this day, and in 2020, it was recognized as intangible cultural heritage, the first form of digital culture to achieve such status.
