Start of the winter magic season
Children’s culture for everyone
Come to the City Museum and celebrate World Children’s Day and the anniversary of Children’s Town with us on Thursday 20 November! During the event, you can meet Helsinki residents of yesteryear and make festive decorations for the end of the year at 15.00–18.00. The event is part of the ‘Children’s Culture for All!’ day programme spread all over Helsinki. A Christmas party for the little ones will be held on Sunday 23 November from 12.00 to 15.00. You can meet Santa Claus and people dressed in historical costumes, marvel at sparkling magic shows, craft cards, dance at the disco and take part in a Christmas adventure track.
❤️ Did you know that you can also celebrate children’s birthdays at the City Museum? Read more and book a birthday package.

Come and enjoy the Christmas spirit and make inspiring gifts on Saturday and Sunday 29–30 November at 11.00–18.00. The Helsinki City Museum holiday market will also feature an array of items from other museums from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and a wide range of wonderful and unique products, such as crafts and delicacies.
❤️ You can also meet Santa Claus and enjoy a Spicy Pumpkin Latte at the cosy El Fant café.
Christmas season at the Burgher’s House Museum will be kicked off on Wednesday 26 November, when the oldest small wooden home to remain in Helsinki city centre is decorated with mid-19th century Christmas decorations. The Burgher’s House Museum (Kristianinkatu 12) is about a 10-minute walk from Senate Square.
❤️ The Burgher’s House Museum’s Christmas party will be held on Sunday 7 December. See opening hours for the Christmas period.
The winter magic season is upon us
In the museum shop you will find gifts for Christmas! The responsibly selected products in the shop are a reflection of Helsinki. The Stefan Bremer – Helsinki by Night T-shirt evokes the city’s nightlife in the 1970s and 1980s, the new book Empire – Kiven ja valon Helsinki tells the story of urban construction, and the City Museum’s own annual calendar 2026 is a gift that brings joy to architecture lovers all year – we also stock woolly socks and reflectors that make wonderful gifts.
❤️ Helsinki City Museum’s museum shop received the Visu Award awarded by the visual merchandiser association Visualistit ry in 2025. The award is presented to a memorable action, campaign or implementation that attracts attention and brings visuality into the wider conversation.
