See Helsinki with a new perspective! Helsinki City Museum’s summer walking tours are now on sale. Please note that most of the tours are guided in Finnish.
Helsinki City Museum’s summer walking tours will kick off on 25 April. Explore neoclassical Helsinki, admire the art nouveau buildings in Katajanokka or go on an adventure to the world of ghosts and mysteries. Tours are held on weekdays 17.00–18.30 and tickets cost €12 per person. We recommend buying your ticket in advance. We hope to see you there!

Ghost stories of Kruununhaka

The ghost tours offer a mystical and alternative perspective into the cultural history of Helsinki. The route creates an atmospheric setting for creepy stories – you will learn about both the Grey Lady of Svenska Klubben and the Headless Colonel of Vironkatu.
Ghosts of Boulevards

The tour will introduce the participants to the creepy attic of Helsinki’s oldest stone building, the ghosts of ‘Plague Park’, the phantom of Restaurant Kappeli, and the restless soul of Alexander Theatre, among other things.
Tsar’s Helsinki

The tour will explore the first one hundred years of Helsinki’s development into a capital, as well as the city’s key monuments. Among other monuments, the focus points of the tour include the buildings in the Senate Square area – Bank of Finland, House of the Estates and National Archives.
Culinary walking tour of Helsinki
Wed 21 May
Come and explore Helsinki’s café and restaurant culture. Helsinki’s colourful past has left delicious marks in Finland’s culinary culture. During the tour, we will also be taking a look at the marketplaces and market halls of Helsinki.
Art nouveau walking tour in Katajanokka
Thu 22 May
The tour will introduce the participants to the internationally renowned top attractions in Katajanokka and elaborate on the social policies that led to the most densely built shantytown in Helsinki becoming the first city district in Finland to be built entirely out of stone.
Queer history walking tour
Wed 4 June | 25 June
The tour will dive into Helsinki in the early 20th century, presented from the perspective of LGBT+ people. The tour starts from Vanha Kirkkopuisto park and ends at Tähtitorninmäki.
Classicism of Etu-Töölö

This walking tour of Töölö focuses on the most significant 1920s residential area in Finland – Etu-Töölö. The focus points of the tour include the Temppelinaukio area, Museokatu, the ‘Sonck block’ and the single most important building project of the era, namely Parliament House.
